MISSION STATEMENT
Promoting the linguistic duality of our country is a fundamental element in the mission of the Orchestre de la francophonie canadienne’s (OFC). Namely, we aim to build understanding of the value of linguistic duality in Canada by promoting stronger links among Canadians and building stronger linguistic and cultural links among members of the two official-language communities and help Canadians appreciate the French language and understand its cultural context in Canada.
Thus, the OFC offers young Canadian musicians of all backgrounds advanced musical training in a francophone, stimulating and warm learning environment conducive to their artistic and personal success. With a top-notch activity program, the OFC enables its young musicians to make significant progress in mastering their instruments, in the company of qualified professionals, masters and soloists of international recognition. Much more than a stepping stone between university and the professional orchestra, the OFC is designed to provide a genuine springboard for young musicians who wish to pursue a professional career. The OFC thus fills a gap previously left empty, namely the transition from a learning to a professional environment.
The OFC is also original in its presentation of classical and pop concert featuring pop and classical artists. These events bring new audiences to discover classical music.
The OFC thus promotes the development and fulfillment of young classical musicians, and fosters the following objectives:
- Contributing closely to the development and fulfillment of new Canadian talent and offer and offer young musicians visibility and unique opportunities for professional development;
- Enriching and stimulating the acquisition and development of skills with a view to achieving professional levels;
- Offering young Canadians an outstanding opportunity to appreciate Canada's diversity, along with all its aspects held in common;
- Promoting encounters among young Canadian musicians from across Canada, in an unusually rich learning environment;
More than a training program – a unique life experience!
In addition to the professional enrichment it affords, this experience enables young musicians to travel across Canada and discover the various facets of the numerous francophone communities. By giving the members of the Orchestre a chance to meet and talk with other young people who share the same passions and ambitions, this project is also an opportunity for them to improve their knowledge and understanding of the francophone reality and francophone history.
Throughout their training and particularly during the tour, these young musicians, our rising musical elite, convey the very picture of a vital and committed youth. Never before has such an opportunity been given to Canada’s young musicians to come together in such an inspiring setting to share an entirely unique experience. Articulate, intelligent, dynamic and bursting with life, the young people of the Orchestre de la Francophonie canadienne are fantastic representatives of Canada’s diversity.
